With September quickly approaching and the start of a new school year just around the corner, Fusion Homes decided to team up with Lakeside HOPE House for their annual Back Pack Project once again. Each year, families in Guelph who struggle to provide school supplies for their children can sign up for the Back Pack Program at their local Neighbourhood Group. Lakeside HOPE House coordinates the collection of school supplies for children on this list from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. Last year Fusion Homes was able to donate over 100 fully stocked backpacks and this year, Fusion decided to take their contribution to the next level.
Fusion Homes became the primary backpack sponsor for this initiative and challenged their employees to donate 350 boxes of pencil crayons. Starting with a foundation in their lunch room, Fusion Homes’ staff built a house out of over 400 boxes of pencil crayons that they had donated.
Additionally, Fusion Homes offered the use of their Heritage Building located in The Ward in Guelph, an area impacted by this initiative, and organized a Pack Day to fill all the bags with school supplies.
Lakeside HOPE House and the Fusion Homes team volunteered their time on Thursday, August 17th to pack the bags with the donated supplies. This initiative was 100% Guelph sponsored with donations from Guelph businesses and the Guelph community. As a member of the community Fusion Homes wanted to show their support to the families in Guelph who needed the tools to help their children get through the school year. The event was extremely successful packing over 1,100 bags, fulfilling the both the list of families who signed up for the program and the waiting list.
