The back-to-school season is, for many parents, “the most wonderful time of the year” (to quote the popular commercial). However, for others, it’s a time of stress and anxiety, where significant extra costs stretch already tight budgets. Fusion Homes took part in the Guelph Community Backpack Drive – an initiative to fill 1,000 backpacks for students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, providing all of the resources that they need to be successful.
Fusion Homes’ challenged its staff to fill over 100 backpacks, and it true Fusion fashion, the team met it’s target.
Fusion Homes employees went shopping – with their teams, their families, and even their own children – to purchase school supplies, and fill their backpack. It was a great opportunity to build team spirit, or to teach their own children how to help others while they prepared for the school season.
The Guelph Community Backpack Drive is a partnership between Lakeside HOPE House, The Salvation Army, and The Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition. A team of volunteers from Lakeside HOPE House came out to help pick up the backpacks so that they could be distributed to children before school starts next week.
Good luck to all of the students heading back to school!
