Taking Action: Adding a Level of Safety to the Construction of Your Home During a Pandemic
COVID-19 has created new challenges when it comes to providing a safe working environment for those that are building your home. At Fusion Homes, we’ve approached this challenge the same way we do any other – by creating an industry leading process that provides the highest level of safety possible. Our goal is to not only meet the requirements set by the provincial government, but to exceed these requirements by finding effective and enforceable solutions.
In this current environment, delivering a safe home to our customers requires a thorough safety plan for the team that is building your home. Our approach focuses on four key principles:
- Cleanliness,
- Screening,
- Social Distancing
- Being understanding of individuals’ needs
In addition to providing additional hand wash stations, disinfectant products, and following the rules provided by Public Health, we have also added a full home disinfection prior to when you move into your new home. To disinfect your home, a specially trained cleaner uses a disinfecting fog solution that kills 99.9% of germs and bacteria in every corner of your home. After this non-toxic disinfection process is complete, no one is allowed into the home until you take possession, adding another level of safety to your home.
Screening and Testing is also a critical part of our Safe Work System. All visitors to our sites must be screened at the Construction Trailer. To ensure the safety of our customers and our employees we ask that customers refrain from visiting the site at any time during this pandemic. To enforce the screening process and ensure this is being followed, we have created a marking system to easily recognize visitors on site that have been screened.
We have also taken precautions to encourage social distancing by allowing only one trade into a home at a time, using a signage system on the door of each home to indicate if the home is currently occupied. In addition, we have staggered breaks and discouraged carpooling wherever possible. Unfortunately, some jobs can only be done safely in pairs, but in these instances employees and trades are asked to wear protective equipment and wash their hands frequently.
Our goal with these safety precautions is to safely deliver your home to you – and this means going above and beyond to ensure you Love the Journey!
After receiving many requests from builders for us to share this program, we’ve decided to make it public for all to use. By implementing new safety guidelines on cleanliness and sanitation, social distancing, testing and screening, we continue to provide active measures so we can all do our jobs safely, and still provide shelter to our customers. This, above all else, is our number one priority. We look forward to continuing this journey and bringing our projects to life. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/2KaRX0K
